Product Descriptions Matter
Life happens in small moments. I think this is why I love writing about products. When I was a clothing designer immersed in the “how” of making an idea come to life, I followed this thought exercise that was incredibly reductive. I thought of that big idea and reduced it down to the moment that my “customer” would pull that garment out of the closet to wear. What was she thinking? Was this her favorite thing? How did it fit and was it flattering? Did she like the fabric against her skin? What was going on in her day that made her choose that piece of clothing?
These are the small moments that make up our day. When something is made for someone to use; it automatically becomes enmeshed in that person's experience once they own it. So when we talk about the features and benefits of an item, we are often speaking about how it will be incorporated into a real person’s life. That is so profound, don’t you think?
Selling something is NEVER just a transaction. There is a whole why behind it either big or small. That’s exactly what I love to speak to.
