Why writing your own copy is a very bad, no good idea.

Most of us don’t have a giant marketing budget. In fact, until you’ve grown your business and have the requisite 10% to budget (or whatever the current best practice is, it changes), you are stuck being the brains, brawn and brunt of everything your business requires.

” I can write about my brand”, you think. I created it, it’s much more fun than bookkeeping!”, but what most people don’t anticipate is the mental toll that being all personnel requires. By the time you’ve done all the jobs, sitting in front of a computer for hours crafting brilliant copies feels like a prison sentence.

Here are the top 5 reasons hiring a copywriter will save you:

  • Fresh eyes on your brand is never a bad thing. A copywriter will come up with 10 different ways to entice your customer that you probably weren’t even paying attention to-because you are busy actually running your business.
  • A copywriter only has ONE job. And that is to make you look amazing…think of it like a stylist, but with words. You have 10 jobs. Do you need another one?
  • Copy has a long life span. Once a product description is written, it’s done. You aren’t redoing it unless you change something about that product or service, so the spend is not quite as spendy as you might be thinking. Even if you are putting out a monthly newsletter, it’s still not exorbitant.
  • Social media is A LOT easier if you have your core messaging mapped out. Yes it changes often, but having a theme and a plan makes it better, more cohesive and will convert your eyeballs to customers.
  • Having a partner in crime is always way more fun than operating in an echo chamber. Your copywriter has the secret sauce to activate your genius in the eyes of your customer. A good copywriter is paying attention and most likely will ask you if you really really want to press the red button before you do it.

So now that you know why hiring a copywriter is a great idea, go ahead and do it!
